TPV Challenge - Yay Summer!

There's a new challenge posted at The Paper Variety and it's all about summer :) The possibilities are truly endless! Summer vacations, backyard BBQ, July 4th, beaches, swimming.. I could go on and on...

For my project, I created a layout and used the October Afternoon "Campfire" collection :)

My son, Braydon, is type1 diabetic and last year was his very first time at diabetes camp - his first time at any camp, really. It was a long miserable week for me, worrying about him and missing him, crying and writing him letters everyday - but he had the most wonderful time. He had so much fun and also really grew in knowledge about how to take care of his diabetes. I was so proud of him as was my sister (pictured with him). She's also type1 diabetic and went to the same diabetes camp 18 years prior.

sweetest boy

This week I put together this page about my nephew Drake, using the April kit from Artful Delight :) I love this photo of Drake, he was such a precious baby - what happened!?! lol I usually add a bunch of other stuff to my pages, but I wanted to keep this layout somewhat simple so the focus is more on that sweet lil boy :)

I've been doing really well with my photo-a-day goal. Yay me! However, most of the photos I've taken are of Drake or our pets. My son Braydon is almost 12, he use to love getting his pic taken - but that was occasionally. Now everyday I have the camera in hand and Braydon runs from me, won't let me click. Blah! So Drake and the pets are all I can do. Although, I was thinking about driving around town and capturing my favorite places to relax, play, shop, eat etc... or just places I think are beautiful.

So anyway.. here's one of my daily photos.. it's Drake :) I can't wait to scrap this with Echo Park "Playground" :) I WISH he would've smiled or at least looked my way.. but it was so hard to chase him down and keep him still for a half second, he's such a ball of fire at the park- I was so lucky to even get this shot.

Celebrate No Housework Day!

We celebrate this national holiday by scrapping today and into the weekend with projects that remind us of housework or getting away from it! I created a double page layout to celebrate No Housework Day and included several scrappy items from the AD April kit. :) This is a typical day at my place.. lots of housework to do.. but I sit and watch crafty shows instead lol. I know what's priority! :)

Best buds & Giveaway

Tonight began a 24 hour layout challenge on Scrappin-n-Chattin. Gals who sign up chose which
sketch and paper collection each other is to use for their layouts and we have 24 hours to complete it. It really is alot of fun! And a great challenge, too!

Suzanne picked for me, I had to use October Afternoon's "Fly a Kite" and had to follow this sketch...

I wasn't really excited about the sketch, wasn't sure how it was going to turn out. But as I worked with it.. I started to really like it :)

Pretty late posting this, sorry- it's been a long day!

Today's layout is all about my son and the origin of his
name. This was out-of-the-box for me as I often use
more paper and hardly ever journal much on my layouts.
Most of the time a date is as far as I go.
But I'm happy with the way this turned out :)

EDLC 2/11 & 2/12

As if creating a layout everyday for 14 days wasn't challenging enough, adding to the pressure, I get sick on the 11th day. Blah! I've come down with some kind of flu bug, sinus issues and achy bones. All I wanna do is lay in bed and sleep, not scrap. But the show must go on, I've come too far to give up now.

For 2/11, I scrapped my sister, Sarah, and my son at the county fair. I tried a new technique by overlapping the title chipboard letters to give the layout some dimension. I really like the look and think I'll do more like that for future pages. I used patterned paper from October Afternoon's "Nightlight" with some Sassafras Lass embellishments.For the 12th, I switched gears from my favorite bright colors to a more elegant layout. This is my stepson, Zach and his fiance, Sarah.Only 2 days left to complete this challenge! Woot! TFL!!

EDLC 2/3 & 2/4

I'm really loving this Every Day Layout Challenge on Scrappin-n-Chattin! I don't think I've ever scrapped 4 days in a row before.. and still 10 days to go! I hope I can accomplish it!
Feb 3rd's layout is of my son at Lake Michigan a few years ago. I love these photos of him, he tried so hard to get the rocks to skip, but they all went "kerplunk"! lol
Feb 4th's layout is also of my son back in 2006. I love love love this October Afternoon collection "Night Light". It's so colorful and those lil monsters are so cute! I had told Braydon to look mean for the photo, and this is what I got- nope, still cute!!
I apologize for the quality of all my photos. I've had to scrap in the evening this week. I wish I could find the time to day scrap- sunny photos are so much nicer. TFL!
